Proverbs Day 6

Proverbs 10:6- Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

2 Timothy 2:22- Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

In the HCSB version of the Bible(what they used in this days devotional) it says “Blessings are on the head of the righteous.”  I’m not sure how the Proverb verse above became so simple in their version, but it brings up a point of we must live a righteous life if we expect the blessings of God to be upon us.  If we live as the world lives we will not be blessed by God.  Bad things will happen to us.  I know, I can hear you saying, “but bad things happen to me and I follow God!”  Yes it’s true, God does allow us to be tested, but if we’re living for Him He is right there beside us helping us.  And, our true blessings will come in that when we die we get to go to live with God in heaven.

I love Proverbs 10:6 – its a reminder that blessings are just that, blessings not entitlements or necessities.

I like to read some of the Proverbs everyday just to remind myself.
