A Brush with Love

A Brush with Love | A Year of Weddings novella (Zondervan, January 2015)

Ginger Winters is a gifted hairstylist with scars no one can see. The last thing she expects from the New Year is a new chance at love.

Overcoming a childhood tragedy, Ginger emerges from the pain and trauma with a gift for bringing out the beauty in others. From the top big city salons to traveling the world as personal stylist to a country music sensation, success was almost enough to make Ginger forget her she would never be one of the beautiful people.

Almost. Now that she’s back home in Rosebud, Alabama and running her own salon, the truth remains: Ginger is still that girl, forever on the outside looking in. But she needs her confidence this weekend. She’s the acclaimed “beauty-maker” for the Alabama society wedding of the decade.

When high-school crush Tom Wells Jr. also returns to town and shows up at her shop looking for a haircut, Ginger’s thinly veiled insecurities threaten to keep her locked away from love, Despite Tom’s best efforts, Ginger can’t forget how he disappeared on her twelve years ago and broke her heart. Can she ever trust him again?

When Tom challenges her to see her own beauty, Ginger must decide if she will remained chained to the past or move freely into a new, exciting future.

My thoughts: I received a copy of this book via ebook for review.  I don’t do a lot of ebook reviews simply because I like the touch and feel of “real” books and find that I don’t get quite as into the ebook or kindle version.  I can’t go snuggle up with it in a comfy chair in the sunshine!  But, let me tell you that this book kept me so enthralled that I FORGOT that I wasn’t curled up with a good paperback somewhere.  I felt for Ginger.  She has so much talent and has come so far yet she still has that girl inside her who believes she is nothing.  She believes she isn’t beautiful and isn’t worth the attention people give her.  She goes home and it gets worse because of all the sights and memories.  But then, out of nowhere, comes a man who has the potential to change all that.  If only he is sincere. . . . if only he sticks around this time!  Ginger’s old boyfriend has returned to their old hometown too.  Will Ginger trust him and allow herself to be healed or will she forever stay locked in her past.  Will she allow herself to have A Brush With Love or keep her heart locked up and away thinking she isn’t beautiful enough to feel.  Great book!  You’ll love this one.  Trust me when I say this is one of those that you won’t want to put down.

This sounds like an interesting book. I am with you on the whole ebook thing. I prefer to curl up with some Chai, a blanket and a book, not a computer/tablet. But I may have to check this one out!

It’s available in paperback too! I just got the ebook for the review. I read them on my computer so it’s not quite so cuddly.
