My thoughts:

I have long liked Tracie Peterson as an author and knew immediately that this was going to be a good one.  I didn’t recognize the name of Kimberley Woodhouse but knew is she was collaborating with Tracie Peterson it was going to be a great book!

Lillian has had a life of privilege living with her grandparents after her mother’s death.  But then her grandmother dies and life becomes unbearable.  Her grandfather becomes surly and mean and won’t let her leave the house.  She wants to fulfill her mother’s(and her own) dreams by doing something with her life.  So she answers an ad for a nanny in the west.  But when she gets there it’s definitely not what she expected.

Her new employer is wealthy and has an adorable son. . . who doesn’t speak.  And who looks like he’s near to starving himself to death.  Lillian immediately takes a liking to the small boy and vows to help him.  The rumors about her new employer Woodward don’t match the man she’s getting to know though.  The town says he killed his wife.  Murdered her in cold blood.

As her little charge warms up to Lillian and they befriend a simple youth are they reaching a point of change for the young lad?  Or are they simply placing themselves in more danger.

Suddenly things begin to change.  Someone unwanted is at the farm.  Holes start appearing everywhere.  And then someone breaks into the house and attacks the housekeeper.  She’s such a sweet soul and they’re not sure if she’ll live.  Woodward finds her only to be put in jail by those who think he tried to kill her same as he did his wife.  But the boy knows better.  He knows who’s behind it all.  He’s seen him.  And this killer is the reason he won’t speak.

Will the silence be broken before it’s too late?  Can Lillian save the farm and Woodward from being hanged?  Will the killer be caught?  Oh my.  Such a good book.  You’re going to have to read it to find out of course.  And I hope you do pick this book up and read it.  Request it through your library or head to your favorite book store to purchase it.
