Powerful Message
“Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.” Matthew 5:43-45 KJV
Wow! Yeap this is a powerful message. How many of us are sitting here going. . . well I can’t love so and so they did this to me, or well that guy over there hates me I’m not going to go be nice to him. Come on, I know each of us has someone that it is hard for us to love. I know I do, but that’s where the best part comes in! We don’t have to love them ON OUR OWN. We have God who is always there waiting and ready to help us love them. Big sigh, there isn’t that much better. Don’t you feel better after releasing the feelings you’ve held against someone and having God help you love them?
Ok wait, did I stray from the verse there a bit. Well lets move back.
God is the God of all. He made everything and all man was created in His image. He doesn’t want us to hate eachother but rather to help each other and be kind to each other. How many people were you kind to today? What did you do to a stranger today? Did you shove past someone to get where you wanted to be or did you hold the door open and let someone else go in front of you? It’s the little things that can show God to the world. The simple things like smiling at a stranger, holding a door for someone, putting away someone elses cart at the grocery store. Recently a friend did a set number of random acts of kindness on their birthday(one for each year they were alive). I thought that was pretty neat. It was a great way to show kindness to a stranger and show the love of God to someone who may not see it on a regular basis.
My challenge to myself and all of you is to think of something you can do to show the love of God. Remember God loves everyone, even the ones that don’t love us back. Find something that you can do and do it, don’t worry about what other people will think of you, all that really matters is what God thinks of you.

This message is a good reminder that we can’t do it without God’s help and he doesn’t expect us to. He just wants us to step out and trust him.
