If the Tide Doesn’t Change, Who Will Pay the Price?

As autumn of 1916 descends upon the once-peaceful town of Sunset Cove, Anna McDowell has great hopes that the excitement of the summer will be over, now that a few of the key players in the rum-running ring have been arrested. But with a daring jailbreak getting the town in a dither again, she knows that the danger hasn’t passed for anyone in her coastal hometown.

With a mayoral election keeping tensions high and the authorities busy searching for those behind the jailbreak, Anna has plenty to keep the newspaper busy. But when her sixteen-year-old daughter begins making noises about leaving high school and abandoning dreams of college, Anna realizes that prohibition isn’t the only thing she needs to be worrying about.

How deep does the root of corruption run in their town? As she digs deeper, Anna is forced to put the concerns of her own heart on hold in an effort to save some of the people dearest to her.

My Thoughts on Riptide Rumors:

Riptide Rumors is book two in a fun series centered around prohibition in a small coastal town. Great characters draw you in and mystery keeps you there.

I thoroughly have enjoyed this series so far and hope there are at least a few more books in it.  Prohibition is a time period that I really haven’t studied much.  It’s not been on my radar.  Now it is!

Melody Carlson is an amazing author and I always find myself lost in her books. I’m captivated and can’t seem to stop reading.  I’d rather read than do the dishes for sure.  These are the books that keep me up late at night.

In Book Two of the Sunset Cove series we start up where we left off in Harbor Secrets.

Anna is staying to run the newspaper, Katy is going to finish high school and they’re all going to learn how to get along again.  But unfortunately, life has a way of changing and quiet never seems to stay quiet.

Clara and Ellen are again faced with trials and tribulations.  Life can’t seem to settle down for them or the sleepy little town.  It’s growing and crime can’t seem to quit trying to keep up.

When a local criminal escapes jail it’s only a matter of time before Anna is deep within the sleuthing again.  Can she emerge with her life and her heart intact?  Or should we be watching Katy’s heart this time?

Loved this book.  It was so fun watching Katy find her way in life.  I was definitely rooting for her.  Also good to be back in the newspaper office with Anna.  The characters definitely become friends that you can’t pull away from.

Lots of good romances going on within the book, plus some new twists in the old mystery.  Even though lots of the leaders were caught there is still a lot left to figure out and people to arrest.  I’m waiting for the next book in the series.  It’s pure torture when books do this to you!

Highly recommend this read.  It’s great clean romance and mystery that you can read and enjoy.  Historical fiction at it’s finest.  Definitely a period that is not overly written about and a nice setting that allows for greatness.
