Going Home
Going Home
Have you ever known someone who was dying? Did they get put on Hospice? Going Home is the newest release through Pure Flix that focuses on just that.
I’m an RN and I always love reading books and watching shows that talk about nurses. But more than that, ones that talk about nurses in a good and positive and real light. Our job is not glamorous and our job is not easy. I spent many many years working in a nursing home and working with members of hospice.
Going Home is the newest release on Pure Flix. If you don’t know what Pure Flix is check out the link HERE where you’ll learn all about how they offer good Christian and clean content so you don’t have to worry about your children walking in while you watch a movie. And you don’t have to okay and pre-screen everything!
Now, about the Show!
Here’s a quick synopsis of episode one!
Everyone has a calling from God and Charley’s purpose is to help people transition from this world to their forever home. Watch this heartfelt series that will inspire you to think deeper about your relationships and how you can live well with the time we’re all blessed with. God gives everyone a calling – and for Charley, it’s to help families during one of the most difficult times of their lives.
While I was looking up the show and seeing who was starring in it I learned that one of the starring roles is held by Charisma Carpenter who played in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel”. I’ve never watched either of those but I do know a lot of people who have.
My Thoughts
I loved this show. The nurses show a lot of compassion as they help prepare their patients and loved ones for departure. The acting was well done. I enjoyed that the women playing the nurses did such a good job portraying nurses. Sometimes it feels like people are just playing the part and don’t understand all that goes into caring.
It’s a full-time job for your body but also your heart. You get attached and you do grieve with them but you also know you helped make everything as smooth and painless as possible.
I don’t want to spoil the show for you so I won’t go into detail. But I do need to say I don’t watch much television. It’s just not my thing. I’d rather read books and imagine it all in my head. But, I couldn’t stop watching this one. I would say I binged it, but there is only one season and that consists of three episodes so far.
If you’re into shows with a good Christian theme and lots of good acting then this show is for you. It’s not medical in the sense of lots of blood and gore but you do get a good sense of what goes into being a hospice nurse. Oh, and did I mention one of my good friends is a hospice care aide? I’m going to recommend this show to her as well.
