Author: Camille Elliot

Genre: Christian Regency Romantic Suspense

Pride and Prejudice meets Mission: Impossible in this Christian Regency Suspense with slow-burn romance and a touch of the supernatural.

Recovered from her harrowing marriage, Lady Wynwood’s peace shatters as a nefarious secret society linked to her past emerges. She seeks the aid of Mr Sol Drydale, an old friend with ties to a shadowy arm of the government.

They gather a circle of trusted individuals with unique skills:
  • A botanist with deadly aim with a bow and arrows
  • An unconventionally trained female medic and chemist in a field dominated by men
  • A cat burglar who also happens to be a viscount’s son
  • A spy searching for answers to the mysterious death of his brother
  • An ex-soldier haunted by regret and self-loathing
  • A human lie detector desperately protecting the lies of her own
  • The most covert phantom agent working for the Crown
  • All led by a nobleman keeping dangerous secrets (who feels like he’s wrangling cats)

To protect their loved ones, they must race to stop a treasonous brotherhood, whose dark secrets could enable Napoleon to win the war.

Lady Wynwoods Spies, volume 1: Archer

An ex-spy and a spinster botanist must find a murderer—with ties to both their families—whose uncanny alchemy could turn the tide against the war with Napoleon.

The team searches for their missing comrade before a crazed murderer finds him first.

Lady Wynwoods Spies, volume 3: Aggressor

My Thoughts on Lady Wynwood’s Spies

Lady Wynwood’s Spies is an amazing series! I’ve enjoyed reading all of the books and extras and cannot wait for the next episode.

Let’s just say that I hate waiting.  I’m not very patient.  I read the first book and immediately needed the second, but had to wait.  And then I read the second one as fast as I could.  Plus, then I had to wait and wait for the third one.  So, you’re in luck now because you can read at least the first three with no waiting!  They’re compiled into this neat little book!

Archer

Book number one is Archer.  We meet Phoebe and Michael.  Phoebe is a spinster.  She’s also an accomplished archer.  But her life is getting upended.  Her father is going to get remarried.  She’s very much against it and will do anything she can to avoid it. The new wife is very against Phoebe being at home and is either gonna send her off or marry her off.

Michael is part of a secret part of the Ramparts.  He quits, though, when his brother is killed.  But can you really quit?

Phoebe accidentally misses her target but hits a piece of paper that Michael holds at a tournament, which reintroduces the two of them.  Sparks fly!

And then we add in Apothecary Jack.  You’re going to love to hate him!  I know I do.  He’s deviously cunning.  But he’s also insane, which is a horrible combination.

Get ready to buckle in for a ride.  This book is going to grab you and never let you go.

Berserker

On to book two!  We dive deeper into the Ramparts and Sol’s secret group.  You get to meet the Petite Prince.  Spoiler: You’re gonna love her!

Solomon Drydale is a high-up member of the Ramparts.  We’re down a member of the team, and another is missing.  Apothecary Jack is causing havoc with only one major attack.

Can they get ahead of him?  Can they find him?  Will they be able to save their hurt team member?

There’s so much that I don’t want to share because you need to read it for yourself.  So much going on!

This book comes right on the heels of book one.  It feels like you stopped a book halfway through when book one ends.  Only book two ends the same way.  It’s maddening!

You’re also going to learn more about Sol and Laura and their relationship.  It’s unique!  Oh, and you still get more of Phoebe and Michael because you can’t not!

Aggressor

French spies on British soil!  Oh my.  Get ready for another spell-binding section of this serial novel.  You will need to read them all and then have to wait for the next instalment!

Apothecary Jack is still there, causing havoc.  And now you’ve got French spies too.  Everyone wants what Jack has.  But nobody understands the ramifications of it quite like Sol’s team.  Because they’ve got Michael.  You need to read these books in order.  There is no just grabbing one and starting in the middle.  They read as a serial and build off each other, taking up where the other left off.

I think each book has a bit more suspense and moves a bit faster than the last one.  More urgency builds up within each one, making it hard to put down.

More from Camille

What inspired me to write the Lady Wynwood’s Spies series:

While I love Regency Romances and Jane Austen’s books, I also really love action movies. When plotting the rest of the series, especially in light of Sol’s clandestine job for the Crown, I realized that I really wanted to do a mash-up of Mission: Impossible in the Regency era.

So I created Sol’s team of agents, some of whom used to work for the Foreign Office as spies and some of whom are civilians with unusual skill sets. And, of course, there will be lots of romance for each of the team members, as well as lots of action and suspense.

What exactly is an epic-length serial novel?

Originally, I had written The Spinster’s Christmas, a Christian Regency Romantic Suspense, as a stand-alone novel, and I had planned more stand-alone novels with Lady Wynwood and Sol as minor characters in each of them. However, as I began planning the series past that first Christmas book, I realised the storyline was becoming longer and more complex.

I fought it for a while because it would have been a really long series—I even tried writing the next book as a stand-alone novel, but I wrote almost 90,000 words, and I hadn’t even gotten to the 25% mark in the book!

So I decided to structure the series like a Japanese light novel series, in which each book has a complete story arc, but there is an underlying story arc that runs through each of the volumes and isn’t resolved until the end.

This is similar to the serial novels being published in the U.S., but those tend to be smaller installments of around 20,000 words, while each of the volumes in my series is around 100,000 words.

I have already plotted the entire series, and it will be 12 volumes, plus 3 prequel novels (The Spinster’s Christmas, The Gentleman Thief, and Lissa and the Spy). At the moment, I’m writing volume 10.

I hope you enjoy my latest Regency series!
