Book Series Review

I received ebooks of the first three books in the Rocky Mountain Heroes series. I’m sharing my reviews of them below. I am now captivated and can’t wait to read the other two brothers stories. You see, this series is set in Ouray around the five Stephens brothers. Each brother has a book devoted to them thought their father is also a pivotal character.
First, I was a bit taken back that they didn’t follow the brothers in the order of their birth but either way you look at it they’re a great series of books and I found the brothers pulling me in.
These are romance books guys. But not smutty, just a good romance. There is no murder or mystery or intrigue really, just a slow romance that pulls you in and reads quickly. I’m a fast reader anyway but these books are a quick read for me.
Their Ranch Reunion
This books follows brother Andrew who left the ranch for city life after he graduated. He’s a successful businessman between businesses currently. He sold his construction business and is in the process of buying another. While he’s in between he decided to head back to Ouray and remodel the house his grandmother left him.
Well, he thinks his grandmother left him. Instead he’s only half owner of the home. The owner of the other half is none other than Carly, the woman who turned down his marriage proposal. High school sweethearts who went off to college, they parted ways when he decided to remain in Denver and she went back to Ouray.
Since she’s married, had a child, and become a widow. She runs her families business of an inn and she’s got plans for that house to expand her bed and breakfast business. It’ll make a nice suite for guests. She just has to figure out how to get Andrew to sell his half.
But he’s not selling! In fact, he didn’t even know he was only half owner and is planning his own remodel. He will then rent out the house when he returns to the city.
When an unexpected fire destroys the kitchen and family room at the inn Andrew moves back in with his dad and lets Carly and her daughter Meghan take over the house. He then volunteers to be the contractor thinking he can speed up the process and purchase the other half of the house before he must leave to seal his deal. But he’s not prepared for what he’s up against!
His dad gets pneumonia. Blizzards happen. Carly cares for his dad and while doing that she gets sucked into the family and realizes maybe she still has some buried feelings for Andrew. And he has to come to terms with not being there when his mom died while hoping he doesn’t lose his dad too.
Great read and I can’t recommend it enough.
The Deputy’s Holiday Family
In the second book in the series we delve into the life of Matt. He’s taking over the production of the Christmas Play this year and it’s going to be The Bishop’s Wife. His mom started the play years ago and it’s a way to not only honor her memory but prove he’s not a screw up like his dad says he is. Matt is a deputy in their town but even that can’t change his dad’s opinion of him.
What a welcome! Lacie and Kenzie arrive in Ouray only to be pulled over after she almost hits an elderly woman. Talk about a warm welcome. And to top it all off it’s Matt who pulls her over, the Matt she had a crush on all those years ago until her sister stole him. Now she’s back and out of a job with her niece Kenzie who she is raising after her sister’s death.
Add in a mother who refuses to celebrate Christmas in any way even going so far as to say no to a Christmas tree because she’s still mad about her husband dying all those years ago. Can Lacie give Kenzie a Christmas to remember of happiness or will it be filled with sadness this year.
Matt thinks he’s seen this adorable little girl before. She looks familiar. It’s not until he finds out her birthday and does some math to the last time he saw her mother that he realizes this is HIS little girl. Lacie can’t believe it! Her sister didn’t even put a father on the birth certificate but the DNA test proves Matt is correct.
Now what should Lacie do? Part of her wants to run away before she loses Kenzie while her traitorous heart wants to stay with Matt. And Matt knows he’s in love with Lacie but will love be enough?
Lacie interviews for two jobs. One she can do from Ouray and one that she’d move hours away. Matt can’t be separated from his daughter now that he knows of her. Will job will Lacie choose and will Matt follow or lose her too?
Her Colorado Cowboy
In the third installment in the Rocky Mountain Heroes series we get to know oldest brother Noah. Noah lost his wife and their child(due to miscarriage) and grief took him over the edge. He turned to not drugs or alcohol but rodeo. And he was good because he had nothing to lose if he didn’t win. He’s settled down now and merely is opening a rodeo school versus still competing.
A new challenge comes his way in socialite Lily Davis and her two children. Lily divorced her cheating husband and is trying to get her kids back on a straight path. Colton, her ten year old son, is on a sure path to destruction with bad behaviors as he’s trying to gain attention. Piper is seven and eager to please. Lily is taking them away for the summer. Away from screens and away from their father who can’t be bothered to spend time with them anyway.
What Lily didn’t count on was their wanting to learn to ride and spend so much time at the barn on Noah’s farm. She herself is deathly afraid of horses after an accident when she was a child.
When Colton is caught stealing souvenir horse shoes from Noah a decision is made. Colton will work off the cost of his theft. While doing that he learns responsibility and work ethic. He also learns how much he loves horses and that he wants to take riding and roping lessons. Of course, Piper does too.
Lily decides to help promote Noah’s new rodeo school. She’s good at this and has much experience. But in exchange he’s going to help her get over her fear of horses. Can she trust him? What about the horses?
When rescue horse Honey comes into the picture it might just be what Lily needs. She’s finding herself falling for Honey and Noah too. Her kids love him and don’t want to return to the city when their time is done. When Lily unexpectedly has to go and fight to keep custody of her kids Noah must decide whether he loves her enough to set aside the memories of his dead wife and love again or risk losing her forever.
I received copies of these books in e format to facilitate my review. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own and not influenced in anyway. Rocky Mountain Heroes
