My Thoughts on The Other Sister
The Other Sister is an amazing novel! I could not put it down and need the next instalment immediately, please! So the novel starts out with Charlotte. Her life is not all it should be. She’s got problems. But she’s trying to get above them. It’s just hard. But she’s got some good friends who are keeping her on the right track. Until she learns some interesting things.
She grew up in foster care. Her mother couldn’t lose the drugs and raise her. So she bounced from one foster to another and never truly felt like she belonged.
Her mother dies.
She’s not close, and she wouldn’t go except her old case worker tells her she needs to. That there are circumstances and things she doesn’t know. So, she goes to the apartment. And what she finds changes the course of her life forever.
She finds out she has a twin sister that she never knew about.
One who was adopted. And she seems to have the perfect life. Charlotte reaches out to her. But she also gets her hair done to match her twin and finds clothes like hers, too. Is she trying to take over her twin’s life?
When her twin, Acelynn, comes to meet her, things do not go as planned. I don’t want to give it all away, and once they meet, things really start to move fast! Acelynn doesn’t have the perfect life she portrays. And Charlotte bites off way more than she thought when she travels to live as Acelynn. She planned to do it for just a few days, and nobody would know because no one was supposed to see her. But when people see her and she has to start being Acelynn, she learns a lot.
What happens when the truth might not set you free? When the truth is twisted? What happens when the real life that is happening is worse than any story you can read?
Woah.
This book read so quickly. And when it ends, it doesn’t end. It leaves you hanging. There is more to come. I need this second book. Right now. I’m hooked. But then again, I knew I would be. I’ve read other novels by Jessica Patch, and they’re amazing! I wouldn’t say she has anything in her novels that isn’t clean, but she does have unique and off-the-wall things. This is a psychological thriller. The characters are all flawed, and normally, the main character gets in trouble and has to learn a hard lesson.
I highly recommend you read this novel. But be prepared to need the next book.
