My Thoughts on Pride & Practicality

Pride & Practicality is a wonderful read. I loved learning more about the time period, plus the characters were absolutely divine!  Arianna has run from her home and her family.  Her reputation in tatters.  Not that anything truly happened; she just left with a man who was not her intended or husband or anyone knowing.  But she ran from him before anything could happen.  And now she’s still running, it seems.  

Help comes from a man she deems Mr Knight, who offers her a place to stay and heal from her trauma, as well as money to get her there.  

That short few minutes haunts them both.  Her because of all the good that his kind gesture brings into her life.  And him because the vision of her haunts him.  She was pure and innocent and truly lovely.  He wonders if he’ll ever see her again. 

Tada!

Imagine both their surprise when Arianna comes home to make things right with her family and finds that her Mr Knight (really named Thomas) is the rector for her family.  Oh, and he might also be a cousin to her brother’s new wife.  It’s quite nice, actually.  Except, well, she has this thing where she doesn’t think rectors are good and doesn’t trust the office.  

Can they work together to protect her reputation and his while also ministering to and caring for the orphans of the area?  They both feel led to that task.  

This was such a wonderful novel.  I loved seeing Arianna and Thomas get to truly know each other beyond their first impressions.  And seeing Arianna get to know her family again.  There are lots of preconceived notions and things going on in the society around them as well.  Can Arianna truly be accepted by them again?  Will her family forgive her?  And can Thomas break through her walls?

I will definitely read this again!  I loved it!  The characters are amazing, and the plot moves quickly.  I had my suspicions about who the bad guy was from the beginning, and I was correct.  He definitely needed a come-to-Jesus moment of his own.
