My thoughts on Wrong Way Out:

Okay, so this is not a book type that I normally pick up.  Also, Wrong Way Out is book two in a series.  So if you haven’t read the first book you need to go read it before this book.  Not saying you can’t read it without book one but it will make more sense.

Because this is not my favorite genre I did have some trouble getting into the storyline.  The writing is great though.  The author has a great way of expressing herself and I found it enjoyable.

If you like end times or Revelations type stories then this series is for you!

I enjoyed meeting Lucy and seeing how she handles life.  She’s not a Christian.  For that matter neither are the man she cares for or his nephew.  But Nathan, who she is the caregiver for, has been reading the Bible.  And he’s putting two and two together.  He knows what they’re going through and he’s staying one step ahead of the game.  Things like having their own well dug down deep and filling jugs with that water, stockpiling food and oils.  It’s all from what he’s read in the Bible.

We met Marla and Malcolm in book one.  They come back to have roles in this book as well.

I do have to say I’m so indignant about the Coasters as they’re called!  And ooooohhhh that policeman.  I’d give him a piece of my mind.  It’s very Revolutionary War like in that they’re forced to welcome people into their homes.  They’re forced to feed and clothe them without any extra income helping with that.  These people are not grateful at all and make unreasonable demands as well.  They expect all of their wants to be met.  Yes, I said wants not needs.  It’s a given those needs will be met but they demand their wants as well.

Even though this is not my favorite genre I still liked this book and recommend it.  Definitely a good one to read.  Might even make you want to develop some prepping tendencies.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. Each journey has led to another. As a military brat and spouse, she traveled the world and currently lives in Texas. In the midst of those adventures, God called her to the path of writing. Before publishing the Way Out series she was published in Guidepost’s book Heavenly Company: Entertaining Angels Unaware and OakTara’s Falling In Love With You.

When Things Go Wrong

After much struggling, we finally got the Sterno container open. I left an assistant to place the canister in the holder below the chafing dish, while I went to check on some of the food. My foot barely crossed the kitchen threshold when I heard a scream followed by a ker-thunk. My stomach flipped as I quickly returned.

Staring at an upside down Sterno can was the assistant. Quickly I picked up the can and looked for damages. The pink gelatinous goo now sprinkled the table, her shirt, the floor, the kitchen half-wall and, of all things, the beautiful gauze backdrop. With all hands on deck, every worker scrambled with wet and dry towels to pick up every spot we found before any of the wedding party arrived. It created a bond for us that day.

Have you ever had a kitchen disaster you wanted to sweep into the trashcan before anybody entered the room? To my shock, my aging mother confessed to numerous kitchen disasters in her years of cooking for the family. Sometimes this included making a needed substitution to a recipe. Often the change brought success. Below is one such recipe where coke was substituted for sherry.

Whether it’s spilled flammable gel or lacking a recipe ingredient, life can mess with our plans. If we just go with it, we might find the end product can bring about good and not failure.
