Lord of Her Heart

Lord of Her Heart by Sherrinda Ketchersid is a recent release.  I have never read anything by her before but the storyline sounded intriguing and I wanted to give it a read to see what it would be like.

The Book:

Lady Jocelyn Ashburne suspects something is amiss at her family’s castle because her father ceases to write to her. When she overhears a plot to force her into vows—either to the church or a husband—she disguises herself and flees the convent in desperation to discover the truth.

Malcolm Castillon of Berkham is determined to win the next tournament and be granted a manor of his own. After years of proving his worth on the jousting field, he yearns for a life of peace. Rescuing a scrawny lad who turns out to be a beautiful woman is not what he bargained for. Still, he cannot deny that she stirs his heart like no other, in spite of her conniving ways. Chaos, deception, and treachery threaten their goals, but both are determined to succeed. Learning to trust each other might be the only way either of them survives.

My Thoughts:

This was a fast read for me.  I loved getting to know Jocelyn and Malcolm.  There were several times while I was reading that I would laugh at the characters.  This book was well written and really did draw me in.  I’m not a huge fan of this time period but the book more than made up for that.

The characters are so fun.  They each have their own personalities that really draw you in and want to either be their friend or lop off their heads.  I loved watching Jocelyn deal with situations out of her control and how she responded to the threats.  Particularly the threat to her heart.

I do recommend this book.  Currently, it’s available to be read on kindle unlimited for free or can be purchased on Amazon for $.99 which is a great deal for this quick read.

If you like humor and a bit of mystery this is a great read.  It’s mainly a romance novel but the added elements of swordplay and a bit of treachery make it an even better read.  I’m not above liking a pure romance book but I do like having more depth added to it.

The ending was very sweet and I loved it.  Again a great read.

Jocelyn comes to find out more about her own personal strength and grows up quite a lot.  She learns patience and wisdom.  Another important lesson is when to fight and when to be still.

Malcolm learns somethings are more important than who is the strongest and can win.  But most importantly that trust should not have to be earned based on others actions.
