My Thoughts on Samson and Amish Delilah:

This book made me mad.  It ended way too soon.  There is so much more I want to know!  Like what happens next?  I’ve got to know.  The author is hinting at a sequel and I’m just saying there better be one or I for one will be a mad reader left hanging in the lurch.

Samson, Delilah, and Earl are all great characters.  I loved getting to know them and learning all about them.  Delilah and Earl are Amish while Samson or rather Dave (David) is decidedly not.

David has a lot of growing and changing to do within the novel.  Not because he’s a bad guy but because he doesn’t quite get what forgiveness truly looks like both human and from God.  Once he learns that nothing can stop him.  Also, he has to realize that money and the plans of man aren’t everything.

Earl is the cutest character!  I’m partial to children and he’s a hoot!  He loves horses and quickly grasps and learns key points in English.  Definitely a smart little guy that understands more English than he can speak.

Can Delilah and David come to terms with the sins and mistakes of their past?  Will they forgive themselves so that each of them can move on with life or maybe find a future together?

Highly recommend this book.  The first time I’ve read anything by this author and I love his style of writing.  I do have to say I would change some of the illustrations just because teenage Delilah looked a bit too uncovered to me.  I get why he does this I just don’t fully agree with it. Still a strong recommend and I can’t wait for the sequel to come out.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.  I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way.  All opinions expressed are my own.  I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.

About the Author of Samson and Amish Delilah

Samson and Amish Delilah

Thomas Nye writes novels about horses and Amish life, with a touch of romance, and a foundation of faith in Christ. He and his wife, Shari, live on her family farm where they raised five children. Their six grandchildren love to visit Karma and Karla, a team of draft horses which Thomas purchased from an Amish friend.

Walking a mail route for the U.S. Postal Service keeps Thomas close to nature and affords him many quiet hours which he uses to dream up novels. Over three decades of friendships with Amish neighbors has revealed a simple wisdom that he weaves into his writing.

More from Thomas

Most authors agree that during the course of writing a novel, the characters seem to come alive and emerge with personality traits we ourselves didn’t originally plan to give them. Not only did the lead characters of Samson and Delilah take on a life of their own, but they also pulled the story in a direction I never planned to go.

Samson and Amish Delilah is a book about a book. You will soon discover that the characters are reading along with you. They even try to guess the ending and have discussions about it. As I worked on the final few chapters, I could almost feel Samson and Delilah urging me forward, as though they needed me to write out solutions to the issues they were facing. I could almost hear them calling to me, “Please—finish this book—we want the world to hear our story.”

Maybe all of this is just me projecting my feelings on them. LOL. Either way, I’ve gotten to know Samson and Delilah pretty well and I’m sure they would want you to smile, laugh, cry, and learn about the power of forgiveness along with them.

P.S. It so happens that I feel Samson and Delilah nudging me forward with a follow-up novel. Wink, wink.

I LOVED this review! I’m so happy you enjoyed the book, and I want to thank you for your kind words. I need to make one critical footnote. *I almost cried when I got my first copy of Samson and Amish Delilah and saw what happened to my drawings. They became faint in printing, and I agree that Delilah needs more clothes. She had more on in my original drawings.
