My Thoughts on Twilight Tactics

This is book one in a series.  After reading this novel, I know you’re going to want to read the series in order.   It’s always something I recommend, but I wish I could order it sometimes.  Or that you’re not allowed to buy a book further in a series without getting the books that come before it.  

In this book, the focus of the problem is Ollie.  She witnessed a mob hit and can identify all the players.  So, of course, the mob wants her dead so she can’t testify against them.  No matter where she is moved, it seems like the bad guys always find them.  Does the team protecting her have a mole?  How will they find out?  Can they keep her safe?  And what about her health issues?

On to her team!

FBI agent Collin Sullivan is in charge with his partner.  He makes the decision to take her to his family’s ranch.  No one knows they are there except his family, the staff, and his partner.  There is something about the way his partner questions him.  I think they’re newer to being paired together, but you’ll see what I mean.  

The ranch run by Collin’s cousin is also a trauma recovery facility for veterans.  So there are some veterans on the grounds.  This could be a liability or be helpful.  We will soon find out. 

Because the mob is back!  How did they find them?  Or is it the mob?  Is it the survivalist community the ranch butts up against?  

Lucky for them that staff member (and friend) Elena is a former member of this survivalist sect.  She ran away and never wanted to go back except to get her father and sister out of their clutches.  

This moves so fast!

You cannot stop reading, or you might miss something.  Because yes, it’s going to keep going without you!  How dare you even suggest it won’t.  

Brokenness is a theme of the novel.  The brokenness we feel inside us unless we let Jesus in to heal us.  The soldiers are those exhibiting most of the brokenness, and you learn ways that they are taught to cope.  But Ollie also has some brokenness of her own.  And don’t be fooled, so do all of the adults keeping her alive.
