Let’s face it, studying the Bible should be something we do with our kids from the time they are born.  We shouldn’t wait until they’re in their teens to hand them a book and be like it’s time for you to learn how to study the Bible.  But I firmly believe that every stage and age should have a Bible study or an area of the Bible that they are studying, whether you put it as part of school or just part of life.  Lately, we’ve been working through a teen Bible study with my teenagers.  I have six teenagers right now!

Whew, six teenagers.  It’s like a lot.  Well, it feels like a lot knowing that in a few short years they’ll be in the world on their own and I hope I’ve prepared them well enough.  Enter this teen Bible study from Cheri Fields.  It’s designed specifically for teenagers.  The End: A Bible Prophecy Study for Teens is designed for teens by a mom of teens who has taken studying end-times prophecy seriously since she herself was young.

This is a paperback book with 145 pages.  It’s something you’re going to read in bits and pieces as you let yourself have time to digest what you’re reading and dig deeper into the Bible.

About the Book

Cheri Fields is a mom of seven and a parent of teens currently.  In fact, she says she’ll have teens at home until the end of the 2020s.  I will too!  But then I’ll have teens for another 20 years as my baby is only seven months old currently.

In this book about Revelations, your teen is led through the chapters of the book of the Bible while also cross-referencing them back to other books in the Bible.  The author learned early on that she did best with this type of approach and it works well for my children as well.

Why is this a good book for using as a teen Bible study?

Well, I’m glad you asked!

For us, it fits in perfectly with our philosophy.  This is a living book.  It’s not fluff and filler but dig down and figure it out meat.  There are no tests or end of chapters questions but rather an information that just makes you think and begs you to chat with a sibling or parent about what you’ve read and how it has affected you or what you’re questioning.

Revelations is a book of the Bible that most people shy away from. It’s kind of big and scary and talks about things that none of us knows anything about.  We have to believe and trust what it says.  But again most people shy away from it and it’s definitely something that we don’t teach our children.

This book is unique in that it is geared towards teens and it does talk about the hard and the nitty-gritty of Revelations.  It covers the entire chapter and not just the parts that some might want to learn while skipping the hard or the bad.

Our Thoughts

In my opinion, this is a good book for teenagers and adults.  I have an 11-year-old who I would trust to read and use this book but probably not just anyone of that age.

I love that the author encourages students to look deeper and dig in more.  She offers up to them the Strong’s Concordance as a way of finding out more.  She challenges them to form their own opinions and weigh everything against what the Bible says both in Revelations and in other books.

If you’re looking for a study to help your child learn the Bible but also spend time reading and cross-referencing this is a great one.

Take notes!  She encourages note-taking as well whether it’s in the Bible itself, the book, or in a notebook.  For years and years I’ve been taught we don’t write in our Bibles and it’s only recently that I have started doing that so I still encourage taking notes in a notebook or the study book itself.
