Is Love Strong Enough to Overcome the Walls They Hide Behind?
Left waiting at the altar, Claire Simpson has buried her past and moved on, carving out a life for herself as a teacher on the Oregon coast. When her former fiancé appears, he threatens to unravel the peaceful independence she has worked so hard to achieve after their relationship failed.
Montgomery Chandler has moved to NOAA headquarters in Newport, Oregon to make new, happier memories for his children after his wife died of a lingering illness. Their home in Seattle held nothing but the whispers of their earlier lives. Starting over will help all of them heal, but Monty is resolved not to risk love again.
When the handsome widower enrolls his hurting children at the school where Claire teaches, her determination to remain uninvolved vanishes at the whim of a snowstorm. This family needs her expertise. Can she help them without losing her heart?

My Thoughts on A Kite on the Wind:
A great final book in the Mended Hearts series. Just as enjoyable as the first two though none of them are linked together in any way except for the common theme of loss and healing.
Our main character Claire made a cameo appearance in the first book of the series, An Anchor On Her Heart. She joins us again for her own book while a few new fun characters are introduced as well.
I have to say I immediately fell in love with the twins. Mia and Mason are adorable, impish, and need all the love they can get. Their mother died the year before and their father relocates them to be with his sister so he has support. Not to mention the dad, Monty, has turned his back on God as he feels God turned his back on him.
Great read. I do have to comment that these books do not read fast. A lot of books I can finish in an hour or two. This series has taken me longer, a good day of reading plus sometimes a bit more. But they’re good. Just a lot of content in them.
I’m not sure how she manages to put such good content and hard topics into one book but she’s done it in each of these books! This time we deal with loss and anger at God. Plus some hidden secrets that come to light. I enjoyed being back in the same town as before in this series and seeing some similar places.
Highly recommend not just this book but also this entire series. The characters are so complex and fun to get to know. And so much good in here. Definitely, one that I recommend for a good read. Not a book that you’re just going to do a fast read on. You need time to digest some parts of it.
