The Matchmakers of Holly Circle

Book: The Matchmakers of Holly Circle

Author: Chautona Havig

Genre: Christian / Romance / Christmas

Release date: November 21, 2014

They’ve been in love for ten years, but it takes an interfering neighbor with a penchant for poker to unravel the mystery of their persistent platonic relationship.

Flirtation can be an art, or so they say. Well, if so, Ruth and Richard are “the old masters” of the flirting game. Despite their strictly platonic relationship, there’s “something there,” as so many of their friends and families say. Neighbors and friends for ten years, neither seems willing to change the course of their relationship.

Three doors down, at the end of the cul-de-sac, Mason Dickenson has watched his favorite neighbors with an interested eye, but he’s finally had it with the dance. So, with a pack of cards and a few tricks up his sleeve, he’s determined to get them out of the “friend rut” and into romance.

Thanks to Mason’s unique matchmaking scheme, Ruth and Richard concoct one of their own—a deeper, stronger, eternal love and relationship that nothing on earth can match.

My Thoughts on The Matchmakers of Holly Circle

First, a confession.  I love this author.  As in, I’ve read everything she’s written.  In fact, I’ve read it all and some more than once.  If you’ve never read anything by Chautona Havig you are missing out!  I can’t really say I have one favorite, more like lots of favorites and series.  I can’t choose!

Okay, so about this book.  It’s such a fun one.  It’s a romance, but if you don’t like romance you should know it’s not your normal romance novel.  This reminds me more of a Jane Austen novel.  And I love them too so, it’s obvious that I loved this one!

I am doing a bad job telling you about this novel.  It’s so hard to know what to say and not give anything away.  Richard and Ruth are our two main characters.  They have this relationship that isn’t fully friendship but also it’s not fully romantic.  It’s like they’re both right there but don’t know how or can’t figure out how to go forward.

Enter Mason as a matchmaker!  And yes I might have sung the matchmaker song from Fiddler on the Roof a few times while reading this novel.  I couldn’t help it!  Mason is probably my favorite character.  You’ll have to read the book to find out why.

Oh, and the setting is Rockland.  If you’ve read a Chautona novel you’ve probably found yourself in Rockland.  I’ve visited many times in my mind and would love to find myself there for real some day.

Grab a copy, a blanket, and a warm cup of tea and snuggle in for a wonderful cold-weather read.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Celebrate Lit. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
