Are your children going into the upper levels of school?  Do you need an upper level math for them?  Check out TabletClass Math and their classes!

We received a year or annual subscription for the program.  They offer five different upper level math classes to choose from.  Those math classes are Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus.  There are two other classes or levels offered that were not part of our review.  Those two levels are Foundations and Test Prep.

About the Upper Level Math Classes

TabletClass Math offers five different math classes.  They are perfect for students who have finished their elementary math levels and are ready to get into junior high and high school math.  For this review, I will primarily be focusing on sharing about the Pre-Algebra level.

This math program is unlike the textbooks you might have used in your school classes.  It’s fun and interactive and makes learning easy.  John Zimmerman is the teacher for these courses.  He is committed to helping students understand math and making it easier for them.  John Zimmerman has multiple degrees and accomplishments that make his creating and teaching for this program perfect.

Pre-Algebra

Pre-Algebra is geared towards upper-middle school students.  This would be about 8th grade in most schools.  My daughter using this program is 11 and technically would be in 6th grade.  She’s advanced in math and reading though and had already started another program for this level.

This level is divided into two parts and covers such things as positive and negative numbers, solving equations, graphing, polynomials, and basic algebra.

Each lesson takes five steps to complete.  First, you’re going to watch the lesson and take notes on what is being taught.  Next, the practice problems should be looked at and answered.  After this, the answers should be checked to see how they did.  There is a written answer key that you use to go over the answers.  But then there is also a video to watch that goes over the answers and how you came to get that.  TabletClass Math expects the student to watch this video.  And honestly, it’s helpful to watch it if there was something that the student didn’t understand fully.

Last but not least, the last step is clicking complete and continue.  This will automatically take them to their next lesson.

This is an online class.  Everything is online that you need.  It’s also on demand because it’s all filmed and ready to go.  You can do it at your own pace.

There are multiple chapters (16 total) and each has different things to do under it.

Our Thoughts

I think this is an easy-to-use curriculum.  There is a portal for the student and a portal for the parent.  We received the homeschool version.  It’s all laid out in an easy-to-use format and is pretty self-explanatory.  You do need an internet connection for this curriculum, so if you don’t have reliable internet that could be an issue.  It is self-paced though so you’re not on a deadline to get things done by a certain day and time.  With that, you could do five lessons in one day if you got behind due to internet issues.

All of the test keys are in the parent portal.  I like that they’re separate from the student portion.  I like having the parent portal to check up on what’s going on and it had some helpful hints for me as well.  There is a pacing guideline that I found helpful as well so we could know the approximate timeline of where they should be during sections of the year.

Bottom line.  If you’re looking for an easy student-led upper level math curriculum, this could be a great fit for you.  If you want to see some lessons in action or how the teacher teaches head to the YouTube channel for daily videos.  Watch a few and see if his teaching style works for you!
