My Thoughts on The Rock and The Ribbon
I am so pleased to talk to you about these two books. The Rock and The Ribbon are books one and two in a new series, Sisters of the Porcelain Doll.
Let’s chat about them each individually though please please read them in order! You’re going to want to read this as the series it’s intended to be not out of order.
The Rock
This is a fun historical fiction novel. In The Rock, we are going back to the times of travelling west. Rebecca and her father are going west after a still explosion. They’re on their way to Oregon from Missouri now. But what if someone is after them? Is there a danger they’re unaware of?
This is a fun romance but there is also a bit of suspense as well. Rebecca is basically all that is sweet and pure while her father is the opposite. Add in our hero who is Clark. He’s wonderful and all things good as well.
Now what remains is whether they can figure out and avoid the danger while also getting to know each other. I loved this novel. It’s the first I’ve read by this author and I think it might actually be her debut novel as well.
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received through JustRead Publicity Tours. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. The Ribbon
The Ribbon is book two in a fun series. This book focuses on Heather. When her mom passes away she weds her neighbor thinking she’ll have security and be taken care of. While on the trail to Oregon, her husband dies and she has to figure out a way to support herself. She decides to bake and cook for a logging camp.
While at the camp she meets Zeke. He’s hiding out to avoid being charged with a murder he didn’t commit.
I love stories of going west. But I also love logging camp stories as well. They’re so fun and the history is so fun to read about. Add a fun and dastardly villain to this book and you’re going to be hooked!
You’re going to love this novel! If you haven’t read book one you should do so first. I mean, you can read them as stand-alone novels if you want to but I think they read the best if you read them in order.
Let me be honest, I can’t decide if I loved this book more or the first one! The Rock and The Ribbon are both equally wonderful!
