Title: I’ll Be Home
Authors: Sara Davison, Darlene L. Turner, Helena Smrcek, & Melanie Stevenson
Publisher: Independent (Fab Four Press)
Release Date: October 29, 2024
Genre: Contemporary Christmas anthology

With chaos and confusion all around them, can they find their way home this Christmas?

The people in these four stories are all searching for something—an escaped convict, a job promotion from a love interest, connection to a lost parent, or answers across time.

Christmas should be a time of wonder and celebration, but the obstacles each faces seem insurmountable. Even, at times, life-threatening.

Perhaps they will find what they are seeking during this season of miracles and hope. Or maybe, with God’s help, they will discover that the longing of their hearts takes them to places—and people—they didn’t even know they’d been searching for.

I’ll Be Home is a collection of four stories of faith, hope, love, (and trains) that will warm your heart, encourage your soul, and draw you home this Christmas.

My Thoughts on I’ll Be Home

I love these types of books!  Where you get to read from more than one author and check in on characters that maybe you met in another book before and wanted to know more about.

I’ll Be Home is a wonderful compilation of novellas by four different authors but they all are connected by the theme of home for Christmas.  Let’s be honest.  Most people want to be home for Christmas.  Whether that is a physical home like the one they grew up in or a home as in being with people that make you feel like you’ve come home.

The stories in this novella are sweet.

They’re clean fiction, they’re Christian fiction, and they’re romantic fiction.  I will say that the novella by Sara Davison does follow her path of some hard topics but handled super well so you almost don’t know they’re there.  She’s one of my favourite authors and her name on this novel made it a must-read for me.

Darlene Turner is a favourite suspense novelist of mine so of course I knew this book with both of them was going to be amazing!!  Her contribution definitely has the suspense thrown in there and it read super fast because I could not put it down.

I loved the story of the WWII nurse which was a split time with a real estate agent of today.  Those types of novels always get me.  Partly because I love historical fiction novels, and partly because WWII is one of my favourite time periods.

The last novella was about a girl who wanted to impress her boss so she volunteered to give a presentation in French.  She hasn’t spoken French in like ten years so that’s a bit ambitious of her.  She wants to impress him for a promotion but also she really wants to date him.  Dating in the workplace is normally frowned upon.  But later on, she meets another guy too.

It’s a good little novella but I would say my least favorite because it is strictly a romance novella.  And I was into all of the suspense and mystery of the other three.

I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from JustRead Publicity Tours. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.
