My Thoughts on The Darkness Deepens

The Darkness Deepens is the second book in a dystopian society novel by an amazing write like it is, a raw and real, author who I love.  I’m not normally a huge fan of dystopian novels.  They’re not my cup of tea.  But my kids are so I knew that this new series by Sara Davison would be amazing for them to read.  And I figured I could make my way through it.  It might not interest me and I might not love it but at least then we’d have it for the kids. 

Insert huge laughter as I fall on the floor convulsing. 

I was hooked!  I loved the novel!  In fact, I read book one and it was for me that I wanted to read this novel.  Because I needed to see what happened to my new favourite characters.  Okay, so I really do have a lot of favourite characters but it’s amazing.  Just know that if you’re not a dystopian fan(like me) you’re going to love this series.  

Okay.  So this is book two. 

We venture back into the future to see what Meryn and Jesse are up to. 

Jesse can’t let anyone know he’s become a Christian and Meryn has to keep herself safe.  But then there’s also their relationship. 

So the novel takes place in 2054 I believe.  So it’s not super far into the future.  I think that’s part of the reason I loved it so much.  It’s not millions of years away.  And it makes sense.  If you’re a Christian and have read End Times this novel just makes sense!  Christians are being persecuted.  The world is different from what we know it. 

Oh, and I like that real places are still used.  So it takes place in Canada (which I think all of Sara’s books do actually) and you might recognize some of the places used which helps to anchor the book I think. 

Meryn has a secret that she needs to confess to Jesse.  Jesse has to try to stay safe from the persecution and not jeopardize his job.  All the while there are people who’re around with an intense hatred for Christians. 

This novel reads fast and furious and you’re not going to be able to put it down.  And yes, you have to read book one first!
