About the Book The Tiny Crown

What if you woke up to the life you’d always dreamed of? Lucinda is discontent. At 16, she faces problems at home, challenges at school, and an aching emptiness where romance should be. Surely, everything would be better in England, right?

A sudden trip to the Land of Hope and Glory offers more than Cinda has ever hoped for–and maybe more than she bargained for.

About the Author of The Tiny Crown

I grew up in a small Midwestern town and began writing books while still in elementary school (“The Mystery in Maine” was my best, I think!). After growing up, teaching school, and raising three daughters, I used the extra time I had to write “real” books. Each of them was inspired by some part of myself: “I Love to Tell the Story” about my childhood growing up attending our local church; “Not So Happily Ever After” about my favorite historical figure, “mad” King Ludwig II; “Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge: A Biography for Children” about a key current member of my beloved British royal family; “The Phantom of the Organ,” inspired by my church organist job; and “The Tiny Crown,” bringing together my love of school, medieval history, and London. It’s a joy to share my books with readers!

My Thoughts on The Tiny Crown

First things first.  This cover is absolutely adorable!  Can I admit something though?  When I read the title and looked at the cover I thought that the crown was for the dog.  Spoiler.  It’s not.

The Tiny Crown is an adorable fairy tale type of novel for young adults, or for real adults who just want a cute light-hearted read.  Don’t you love that I said real and not old?  I prefer to think of myself as seasoned.  Anything but old or ancient or any other synonym.  I feel young inside and that’s all that counts.

I think we can all relate to Lucinda.  If only I were somewhere else things would be different.  If only I had this instead of that.  We’ve all thought that our happiness is a product of circumstances at some time or another.  And we’ve all had to learn that life is actually what you make of it and it’s not the other way around.  We find our own joy and happiness by seeing what God has given us and revelling in His presence in our lives.

Whew.

That almost sounded a bit sermony and this book is not a sermon.  It’s a light-hearted story about a girl.  Maybe a bit fairy tale-esque.  It’s supposed to be a Cinderella-type story but I also saw some Alice in Wonderland vibes going on.

This is not an overtly Christian novel, but it is super clean and I feel that it aligns with our values.  This is definitely a book my 11 and 14-year-old girls are going to love as well as my 18 and 20-year-old girls.
