Can she find safety and belonging before the past finds her?

After escaping an abusive marriage, Hope Elkins returns to the quiet town of Wombat Valley to reopen her late grandmother’s café, The Hearth—not to chase a dream, but to rebuild her life.

Drawn in by the scent of wood-fired pizza and the warmth of old and new faces, Hope begins to find more than comfort within the café’s walls. As The Hearth fills with stories and second chances, she forms unlikely bonds with others—Ruby, a fiercely guarded teen; Nova, a young mother on the run; and Joe, the gentle local vet carrying grief of his own.

With the support of her new community, Hope begins to heal and is gently drawn back to the faith she thought she’d left behind. But when a charming, dangerous figure from her past resurfaces, she must decide whether to stand firm in the life she’s begun to rebuild, or risk losing it all.

Restoring Hope is a tender, uplifting story of resilience, rediscovery, and the quiet strength found in faith, friendship, and a place to belong

My Thoughts on Restoring Hope

Restoring Hope is a wonderful novel that takes a fresh look at life, finding yourself, healing and connecting with others. Up until this year, I would say that I hadn’t had to deal with a lot of trauma or kids having trauma.  But within the past year, we’ve had more than our fair share.

Trauma changes you.  It forever changes how you think and what affects you.

Hope escapes an abusive marriage.

She goes to take over her late grandma’s cafe, The Hearth.  Just that word brings memories and images to my mind.  When I hear hearth, I think of a wood fire with soup simmering over the top.  I grew up rural, and both sets of grandparents still used outhouses and had limited indoor plumbing; both used wood for heat and cooking.  Today, my family uses wood to heat our home, and I often wish I had a wood cookstove as my gran did.

I really enjoyed all of the characters that Hope comes into contact with.  Having a cafe means lots of people come through your doors.  Having a cafe in a small community means that you also have regulars that become like family.

This novel shows community.

Not just community as the area you live in, but community as the people who surround you and pour into you.

The writing was wonderful.  It stayed with me.  It caused me to think and contemplate what I would do if I were in their situation.  I’ve never had to flee for my life or been in an abusive relationship.  But I hope if someone came to me, I would treat them as Eve did and give them unconditional love.

This was a wonderful novel that I would read again.  I fully believe each time I read it that I will pick up something different and learn something.  Grab your own copy and read away!
