The turmoil and craziness challenge each of them to believe the promise of God’s timing—that every winter, no matter how dark and cold, will be followed by a season of birdsong.
BirdSong is a collection of seven stories about finding promise and hope in a world that’s often topsy-turvy.
My Thoughts on BirdSong
When I saw two of my favorite authors on the list for this novel, I knew I had to read it. Chautona Havig and Sara Davison are authors you do not want to miss. They write amazing books that will captivate you and draw you closer to God. That’s a great thing for a good fiction novel.
This anthology is going to give you a bit of everything. You’ll get romance, suspense, and mystery, plus some other things like sorting out one’s priorities and what to do about abuse.
Sara Davison’s novella is part of the Two Sparrows for a Penny series. If you have not read that series, you need to. That said, you could read this novella without it. Though I definitely would tell you to go read that series as soon as you’re done. Lennon has to get his priorities straight. He’s distanced himself from his family because he thinks that’s the safest thing, and his work is definitely dangerous. Let’s just say some quality time with his nephew takes an unexpected turn.
For Chautona Havig’s novella, we get to visit Milton again! This time he’s taking over a parlour that’s filled with books. Actually, to be truthful, this whole house is taken over by books. The owner wants to preserve the books and keep them out of a landfill, but he’s not sure what to do with them after he gets them. Milton breaks the ice and breaks through defences. If you’ve never visited Milton before, you are missing out!
I feel like every one of the short stories in this novel has more to it.
They’re part of a series, or I wish they were. This is a must-read, and then you’ll be binge-reading all of the authors! Happy reading!
