My Thoughts on The Eyes of River
The Eyes of River is a wonderful historical fiction novel that you’re not going to want to miss out on. It’s an amazing read. I live in a rural area of the Midwest. We have hollers here, too. In fact, where I lived before now, I was right next to one that people liked to get stuck in, and we were forever pulling them out with our tractor. Dirt/mud roads are great for that.
I love reading about the obscure murder cases in the history of our county. One involved a teenage girl killing several family members, or did she?
So, when I read about this novel, I knew it was intriguing and that I needed to give it a go. I was not disappointed. It read quickly. The characters were amazing.
Lizzy is on the run.
She’s accused of murder. Her little brother gets shipped through the postal service to a friend. Only, he never arrives. She will find him. There is no other option. Along the journey, she meets new friends and people to help her on her journey.
I think Lizzy has a hard time thinking well of herself and maybe has lost herself along the way. She has a lot of hard truths to learn and many discoveries to make along the way.
If you’re looking for a good read with wonderful characters, this is it! For anyone with sensitivities to certain topics, there is rape, and there are some murders, plus alcoholism and abuse.
