They’d started back to the house when they heard a male voice behind them. Then a shot rang out.

“Run!” Kaely said.

When bestselling author Erin Delaney’s novel gets picked up for a movie deal, she eagerly awaits her friend Kaely Quinn-Hunter’s arrival in Tennessee before they head to California to observe the film’s production. However, when Kaely does not arrive at the scheduled time, and Erin can’t reach her by phone, her concern grows.

A cryptic phone call from Kaely’s kidnapper confirms Erin’s worst fear–she has exactly six days to save her friend’s life by solving his twisted clues. The message comes with a warning: Contact the police or FBI, and Kaely dies. But Erin works for the Sanctuary Police Department, and Kaely’s husband is with the FBI, putting her in an impossible situation. As Erin races against time, she’s forced to crack the kidnapper’s chilling puzzle before it’s too late.

My Thoughts on Fatal Finale

Fatal Finale is a wonderful series finale that you can’t miss! Read the whole series, though, in order; don’t start with this one.  There’s also another series that has Kaely as the main character; you might want to read that series first too.  I’ve read everything by this author.  Trust me, you won’t regret reading more books.

In this book, we find Erin waiting on Kaely to arrive to go to California to watch Erin’s book be made into a movie.  She’s nervous not only about flying but about them turning her book into something it’s not.  She’s a baby Christian and doesn’t want them turning her book into soap opera-like trash.

But Kaely doesn’t arrive.

Then Erin gets a phone call from the kidnapper.  Kaely has been kidnapped.  She has six days to solve the case, or Kaely dies.  Erin is told not to involve the police, but she has to involve her boyfriend and Kaely’s husband.

This book moves super quickly.  There’s suspense, and there is a murder, but I’m not telling you who is killed. And then there is the personal connection, the reason this person kidnapped Kaely in the first place.  Is he going to let her go?  Or is this all just a play where he’s going to kill her no matter the results?

Can Erin and her team figure out who the kidnapper is?

Can they figure out the why and how and where he is now?

I really don’t want to give away too much of the novel.  But it’s so hard not to talk about my favorite parts!  So here is a minor spoiler.  While Kaely is captured, she has visions.  They are people she knows, and they’re giving her advice/information.  I really loved these little chats!

Another part I loved is the neighbor and dog.  She’s something else too!  Oh, and how Erin, even being a baby Christian, comes out with sme of the best lines about faith and trust.  I personally needed to hear some of those with a season of life that I’m going through.
