My Thoughts on Not My Hero

I love a good book, and this one was great!  I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one!  It’s like the story of Ruth and Naomi from the Bible but with some super modern-day twists.  It’s also a story of redemption and second chances. 

Just so you know before getting into it, you’ll encounter fraud, thieving, gambling, prostitution, etc.  There are a lot of hard topics within this novel.  The main male character also often says curse words, but they don’t share the actual words, just “he cursed”.  

Reading the novel, there were a few times when I had the thought that this was not the normal Christian fiction novel.  And it’s not.  Don’t go into this novel expecting it to be a super clean and lovely Christian fiction novel.  That said, it’s also not a modern spicy novel either.  God is fully within the pages of this novel, but in a different way than I expected. 

Saying all of this, I still give it a five-star rating, and I did really enjoy the novel and the characters.  

Kennedy has to come back to God.  She’s had some hard things thrown at her through life.  Her husband gambled, and somehow he got it all in her name, so she’s trying to figure that out.  Meanwhile, both her husband and father-in-law are deceased, and her mother-in-law is her only family left.  So she follows her back to Ohio. 

That’s where things get a bit dicier.  They’re in a bus accident.  This is where Donovan gets involved in their story as he is part of a rescue team. 

I don’t want to give away too much here.  It’s a great story of personal redemption and finding God, plus there is suspense throughout as well from two separate scenarios.  

Tabitha is a favorite of mine!
