My Thoughts on The Heir’s Beloved

The Heir’s Beloved is a wonderful historical fiction romance novel with suspense and danger, but also love and orphans.  Who doesn’t love a novel with orphans in it who need saving and danger around the corner?

This novel focuses on Liam.  He’s been raised in Scotland.  He thinks he’s a true Scotsman.  Except his birthright says he’s actually a British Duke who was usurped from his rightful spot twenty years ago.  His family was murdered by his father’s steward.  But now he’s back in England in disguise, ready to claim what is rightfully his.

He’s keeping a low profile because he doesn’t want to give away who he is until he’s ready.  

But then he happens upon Ella.  She’s absolutely devoted to her band of orphans.  They will come to no harm under her care.  Or at least, she’ll die protecting them. 

Now for the plot twists and where danger starts lurking!

Ella agrees to marry the Steward who caused all the trouble for Liam, Fenwick.  He’s obviously not a nice man.  But she needs to get away from her aunt and uncle and protect the orphans.  She doesn’t care for herself, only for them.  

This novel is set in Elizabethan England.  So we have ladies in distress and brave knights who sword fight.  Women are considered property, something to be traded and owned.  

I loved the history in the novel.  And I enjoyed the characters and watching them as they grow and come into who they truly should be.  Father Timothy is a wonderful character addition!

This book comes to life!
