Online Homeschool Planner {TOS Crew Review}

Online Homeschool Planner

I struggle with planning.  I never seem to have the time to sit down and plan things out!  In order to try to help me in my struggle I was happy to review an online homeschool planner called Homeschool Planet through the Homeschool Buyers Co-op as a TOS Crew Review.

I want to start by saying you can get a 3 month free trial of Homeschool Planet through tomorrow (7/17/2015 at 11:59pm EST) so definitely take advantage of that if you think you might enjoy an online homeschool planner.  You’ll be getting it for FREE and it will give you three months to decide if you enjoy planning online or not.

First let me tell you about the Homeschool Buyers Co-op.  They provide low-cost homeschool curriculum and resources and is made up of homeschoolers.  They have the largest buying club for homeschoolers.  It is free to sign up for and you can then see what they’re current specials are and what your discounted rate would be to purchase.  They not only sell but also create though!  They saw a need for a great online homeschool planner and created Homeschool Planet where homeschoolers could track all their daily activities!

Homeschool Planet has some great built-in features and allows you to customize and create as well. Some of the features of Homeschool Planet are:

  • separate logins for each member of the family so they can go online, see what they need to do for the day, and check things off as they are accomplished
  • calendar view to view all calendars at once.
  • planner view so you can see what you are supposed to be doing and the times for each task.
  • emails and text message reminders to help you stay on track for your day
  • the ability to easily reschedule or repeat classes or activities this is pretty awesome for things that happen weekly or daily
  • daily digest emails we really haven’t used this as my husband and I are the only ones in our family with email
  • to do lists for each member of the family  to customize what they need to do
  • shopping lists that can be sent to you or a specific member of the family by email or text
  • lesson plans.  You can add links to websites, assignments, notes, and more!
  • lesson copying so you can redo a lesson with another child or save for a later date
  • attendance tracking, grading, and transcript creation.  This will track your hours for you so excellent for a state that requires you to log hours.
  • widgets that can be used to send emails, make meal plans, do research, create notes for the week, and more
  • calendar sharing compatible with Apple iCal, Google Calendar, and others
  • mobile version so you can view and change on the go

The great thing about this online homeschool planner is that the only requirements are that you have a browser and internet.  Pretty simple and yet it does so much!

Let me tell you some fun things that I have enjoyed about this online homeschool planner.  I love that I can put in the kids dance class and only do one per class.  I have six kids in one class but I just enter it once, add all their names to it with the time and the dates I want it to show, and voila!  I’m done.  So simple!  I also love how easy it is to copy and redo the same activity.   For example, we do piano on Thursdays but each of the kids has a different time, same for their practicing.  I just plug it in and then click copy existing lesson and boom!  I’m done.  So simple!

I am technologically challenged.  I’ll admit it.  So I’m still having some trouble putting my Homeschool Planet on my iPhone.  I’m working on it.  Tech support has been super sweet and patient with me.  Seriously.  Their tech support is phenomenal.  They will answer all your questions and even add things that you want added to your planner.
