As a mom of lots of girls I’m always on the lookout for clean romantic comedies.  So many just aren’t even fit for adults to watch let alone kids.  I was happy to find this fun family friendly romantic drama from Watchman Pictures.  Princess Cut is sweet and charming and appropriate for your teenage girls to watch with you.

Are you tired of watching movies that show things that make you uncomfortable because 99% of the movie is good?  Do you just want to watch a semi decent movie?  This will be that movie.  It isn’t a heart stopping make me swoon show, but it’s also not a movie that I feel I should hide my eyes.

About the Movie

Our main character is Grace Anderson.  Grace is born and raised in her small town of East Bend in the Carolina’s.  She’s pursuing a degree in interior design, in her early twenties, and longing to be settled down.  Her dream included a princess cut diamond ring on her finger.  But in her dream she hasn’t bothered to spell out the specifics of how she’s going to get there, who she’s getting there with, or what she’ll compromise to get her desires.  We start out with Grace thinking that “tonight is the night” and she will get her ring, her man, and her happily ever after.  Of course, we know this isn’t happening or there wouldn’t be a movie!

Her boyfriend of 15 months tells her that he’s actually engaged to someone else!  This the night she thought she’d be engaged turned into her worst nightmare.  What can she do?

Fast forward to her starting to see another gentleman.  This guy may be the man of her dreams.  Until he starts pressuring her into doing things that are against what she has set out.  In her mind she doesn’t want any physical contact with a man before marriage, this includes kissing.  When he doesn’t share those values she definitely is setting herself up for failure.  What will she do?

Our Thoughts

I really did enjoy this movie.  It was predictable in that you knew she’d make the right choices and eventually get engaged.  However, I didn’t expect the super cute mischievous little brother.  My girls can definitely see that being their little brothers and have already informed me to keep a closer watch on them.

This is 100% a movie that I don’t mind having all of my girls watch with me.  I did only have the older two who are 13 and almost 13 watch with me this time.  There is one fight scene but it’s definitely not what you think of when you think mainstream movie violence.  Also though a kiss is talked about you don’t see that.  That kiss is the most physical contact as well so there are no sex scenes to fast forward through.

Do we recommend the movie?  Yes we do.  Do we think it’s the most wonderful movie ever?  Probably not.  But as far as modern day family friendly romantic drama movies we give this one an A and thumbs up from our family.
