My thoughts:

I am a big fan of Amy Clipston so I was super excited to get to read and review this book.  Her writing never fails to pull me in and make the characters my best friends.  I’m just going to say now that you should read all of her books because they’re that good.  Reading the series in order is always recommended but not necessary as you can still enjoy the book as a stand-alone.

In A Welcome At Our Door, we follow the story of Cindy Reihl who is still suffering from her mother’s death.  She just can’t seem to move on.  Her family has moved on it seems and her siblings are finding love and settling down into their Amish routines.  But not Cindy.

When Cindy meets the neighbor next door Drew she feels an immediate connection.  Only one thing is a black mark against her happiness.  He is not Amish, in fact, he’s English which means a relationship with him is forbidden.  

Drew and Cindy connect on a deeper level as they are both still trying to come to terms with the loss of those they love.  Cindy finds herself spending a lot of time with Drew, most of it by sneaking around so her family won’t know.  After all, she tells herself, if they don’t know they can’t be disappointed in her.

But will Cindy make the ultimate sacrifice which will make her lose the rest of her family?  Will she choose Drew over her life?  What will they do?

This is a great read.  It reads fast and though there weren’t any huge surprises it did keep me reading and loving the characters.  I always enjoy watching the characters develop and grow into personalities of their own throughout her books.
