The Edge of Mercy

My Thoughts:

The Edge of Mercy was amazing!

I literally fell in love and could not stop reading. It bounces back and forth between present day and Colonial times. While I expected some things, others were wow oh my just wow.

Sarah Rodrigues married young. Rather, she was forced to marry because she was expecting. And her father as a preacher couldn’t let her just be an unwed teen mom. But she and Matt loved each other and they’d make it forever.

Or would they?

When Sarah begins to think Matt is cheating on her after he’s said he needs some time off she’s not sure what to do. Well, she knows she shouldn’t have lost her wedding ring but hindsight and all that. They have one child together. He’s finishing his junior year of high school and then it’s off to college.

What can Sarah do? Should she fight to save her marriage? Just give up? Why is this happening?

At the same time, her elderly neighbor dies leaving her everything. Her one request is that Sarah contacts her daughter that she’s been estranged from and give her a copy of their ancestors journal. Of course, this means that Sarah must first transcribe the story onto a readable format as the original journal belongs to a museum.

While Sarah works on transcribing the journal she takes the story to heart. It teaches her a lesson she didn’t know she needed.

But there is still Matt and his needing a break. What is she going to do? She determines to fight.

It’s at the point that things go from bad to worse. Will her son survive? What about her marriage? Can Sarah make contact with the daughter and get her to see the gift of the journal?

Great read! Highly recommend. It was definitely one that I wanted to keep reading. I really loved the historical story but I don’t want to start sharing for fear I’ll share way too much. History is a passion of mine.
