Learn Math with Math Galaxy
Homeschool Review Crew
Do you have a math program that you love? We do! But we also have some areas with math that I’d love for my children to get stronger in. Enter letting your child learn math with Math Galaxy. Math Galaxy offers fun interactive apps for your phone or pad as well as ebooks for your child to work through.
Math Galaxy offers a variety of fun math apps for your iPhone or iPad as well as ebooks for math practice. They are colorful and eye-catching as well as entertaining.
We received codes to download some of the apps that are offered through Math Galaxy. Because I was having phone trouble and ended up getting a new phone I wasn’t able to use those as much as we would have liked at the beginning of the review period. We were also offered all of the ebooks through a series of four downloads. There are 30 ebooks total but for ease of transfer, ours were grouped into five categories. I will talk about the categories for how easy it was for me to access what I wanted!
The five categories we received all the ebooks in are whole numbers, fractions, pre-algebra, algebra, and google slides. Google slides was a way to work on things using paperless technology. For this you’d save and move to a google classroom where your child can then answer the worksheet without using pen and paper.

About the Program
Math Galaxy wants your child to enjoy math. They are here to help your child learn math through sequentially and interactively understanding all of their math concepts. This particular math program uses a concrete to abstract philosophy and way of teaching. The main focus is placed on where children generally start to have trouble with math which is multi-step problem-solving.
Awards have been given to Math Galaxy for their math programs such as Best Apps for Kids and Smart Apps for Kids Top Picks Apps.
Within the ebook, downloads are all of the answers. So, for instance, pages 1, 4, 6, and 8 will have the worksheets for your child to do while the off pages will have the answers for the pages they’ve done. I would print off the entire workbook but then only give my children the work pages and keep the answer pages separate so that they weren’t even tempted to peek at the answers.
Our Thoughts
My kids love math. They get that from me. I was really good at math in school and even participated in state math competitions throughout my elementary school years. However, teaching math doesn’t come easy to me with some of my children so I’ve turned to online math programs and other fun activities to help my children learn math.
Math Galaxy offers both apps and ebooks to help learn math. The ebooks are PDF and not interactive but they’re not just pages of fill in the blank quizzing worksheets either. My kids have really been enjoying them. The apps are also fun and educational.
I do have a full age span of children so we were able to use everything from preschool math up to algebra. My three-year-old son has been enjoying using the new preschool math app. My fifteen-year-old daughter has been working through all of the ebooks for algebra.
Things we Loved
I love that there is such a variety with this program. It’s always nice to be able to purchase something you can use over and over again as many times as you need. But, it’s also nice to know that one program can help you help your children with math from preschool all the way through high school so you won’t have to go searching for a new program every few years.
The PDF ebooks are even very colorful and make learning math more of a game than a chore. While these can be printed in black and white I printed them in color because they are so colorful and eye-catching making kids want to use them.
What we Used
We primarily used what my children were already working on. This means my oldest worked through some of the algebra ebooks. I had a nine-year-old daughter working on some higher level multiplications sheets. Another child was mastering fractions! And as I’ve mentioned before my three-year-old was working on the preschool math app.
Everybody said their favorite was the riddles and word problems that just made it so much fun to learn. Even though they were having to do hard things like fractions they were loving that it was a mystery they had to solve. They might also get that love of solving mysteries from me.
We were all excited and intrigued to find some spelling word jumbles included in one of our download packets. These are for grades 3-5 and were so much fun to have on hand for extra school practice on our rainy days.
App Chat
For the apps we downloaded a few of them and my kids have been loving the chance to actually play on my phone. Really they don’t do much on a phone at all. We do have two older edition kindle fire for kids tablets that they do some school on, but I am not tech-savvy and could not figure out how to get our apps on those.
As I’ve mentioned we used the preschool app for learning our numbers and simple math skills with my three-year-old. My older kids really liked the balloon pop times tables app. For this app, they pop the balloons with the correct answers and they found it very satisfying to be able to poke and have the balloon do a good pop versus a bad pop. It has definitely improved their speed and accuracy for times tables drills. Word problems was again a huge hit because it doesn’t feel like math. But the Maze we did have some trouble with and kept getting stuck. We may have to look up some hints and tricks for this one.
