My Thoughts on Safeguarding the Witness
I really liked this fast-paced suspense novel. It read quickly and I found myself not wanting to put it down. The author did a great job of making flawed characters with past hang-ups that you have to look past as you see them navigating their new lives. They challenge each other to be better and do better while also keeping each other safe.
And of course, who could forget Kayla’s mom and little half-sister? I love that her mom, even though she was divorced from her dad, still believed in him and thought he had changed. Add in a super cute little girl and I was stuck. I couldn’t have left the story if I tried. And of course, I did not try.
Kayla and Nicholas haven’t been friends together since they had a falling out. A falling out that was caused by her father. When Nicholas stepped in to defend her dad in a fight(when he was drunk) he lost out on his scholarship and career for sports. Kayla feels responsible but of course, she’s not!
Can they find out who is after them before it’s too late? Will they clear Kayla’s father as innocent? And will they find the stolen jewels?
