A split-time romance from an award-winning author
When a choral composer and conductor falls victim to creative block, he resorts to his fallback plan of teaching high school choir. Callum Knight’s goal at Peterson High is simple: rediscover his muse, extract himself from teaching, and get back to Boston as quickly as possible.
As the long-suffering accompanist at the high school, Peterson-native Blair Emerson has watched the revolving door of choir directors and their negative impact on her choirs over the last few years. She is less than impressed when a dishevelled Callum stumbles in on his first day.
But then they discover an unsigned, unfinished, and handwritten choral composition by a clear musical genius. Blair recalls rumors of Iris, a Peterson student from the 1970s who composed music but was found dead during her senior year. Blair and Callum work to determine if the piece is hers, and the truth they uncover shakes both of them to the core.
With rhythm and flair, Amanda Wen takes readers on an unexpected journey into the depths of a small town’s history in this riveting first book in the Melodies and Memories duology.

About the Author of Echoes of a Silent Song

My Thoughts on Echoes of a Silent Song
Amazing! I cannot think of another world to describe this novel. It’s just wonderful! You’ve got the modern-day story and the older story, which isn’t that old, I mean, it’s 1970s, and well, I was born in 1985, which of course is not that long ago, so it can’t be considered that long ago. Ahem.
Anyway. Both storylines are great! I knew but didn’t know the ending because there was a twist that I had not counted on! You’re going to love that twist.
In our modern story, we have two people teaching at this high school.
One has been there forever, really, and one is just there for one year. He just needs to get his inspiration back. You see, he’s a composer and he lost his muse and hasn’t written music in a while.
And then our female lead. She’s been at this school for so long. She’s stayed while all the other teachers have left them high and dry. Ever since their long-time composer/teacher retired, it’s been a revolving door, and she’s been the only constant. The kids need her, and she’s super protective of them.
Can these two work together to help the children and the school be the best they can be?
And what happens when they find a partial old composition within the music catalogue at the school? A composition that doesn’t belong to the former teacher but rather a student of long ago?
That brings us to the older storyline.
Two students, both composers, both with home lives that leave stuff lacking, and both with a dream of going off to a school that doesn’t charge tuition but rather lets in the best of the best.
They say the female of the two committed suicide, but they’re sceptical. When they start digging into her life, they find correlations to other people in their lives (in modern day). They’re set on figuring out what actually happened to Iris and why her composition never got finished.
Okay. This book is amazing. You’ll start reading and be sucked in. You will not be able to get out of the book. The characters are compelling, and again, you just cannot leave them. You have to find out what happened and why, and who did it. I loved the ending. I’m not going to give it away, though. Just know it’s worth it to read the book, and I would read it again!
