What’s In A Name?

Homeschool Review Crew

CrossTimber

We decided to delve into name meanings in our latest review with the Homeschool Review Crew.  We received five name bookmarks which contain the meaning of the child’s name, where the name comes from and a Bible verse.  What’s in a name?  I’m glad you asked!  It’s actually something my kids love to ask too!  The name bookmarks came from CrossTimber.  Also in our box was a fun activity pack called AmazingName Print Activity Sheets

About the Company

What's In a name

CrossTimber offers a variety of personalized products which would make great Christmas gifts!  Members of the Crew not only received personalized name bookmarks but could also choose name plagues or name cards.  And everyone got a fun activity with the AmazingName Print Activity Sheets!  We had our activity sheets personalized to Liam who is four and this is so fun for him!

That activity set is so fun.  There are 28 pages of full-colour activities for your child to do.  We received this in print but also as a download so we can print and use them over and over again.  I really like this because it means that when Liam is older and really starting to read and write on his own he can do it again and it will have all the same wonder because it has his name on it!

Our Name Bookmarks

I chose to have the five names that were Gaelic/Irish on our cards.  I didn’t realize that they would take Patrick as Welsh even though I knew we didn’t use the Gaelic spelling on that one.  It was before I convinced my husband crazy spellings were cool.

So our what’s in a name bookmarks are for Patrick, Colin, Liam, Fionna, and Ainne.  I love how they include a scripture on these and that they have the meaning and country of origin.  For us, we’ve always said that these are all Irish but it’s neat to see that some are actually Gaelic/Scottish/Welsh as well as Irish.

I’ve always been fascinated by name meanings.  For all my days I’ve heard about my name, Erin, and what it means.  My gran was from England but her Da was from Ireland and so it was near and dear to her heart, as was I of course.

Activity Set

Liam is in love with this.  It’s not often that we find items with our kids names on them because we did choose unique names.  So this is probably the first time my four-year-old has had something with his name on it that I didn’t personally put his name on.

He loves all of the colors too.  They are bright and vivid and definitely eye-catching.  I love that we have a download for this as well so that I can actually print off new pages for when he advances skill levels so he can redo them.

What We Think

We are in love with these.  They make great stocking stuffers in my opinion.  I know each of my children would love to have a personalized bookmark in their stocking.  Maybe I should rush order a few more.

If you have unique names for your kids this is going to be a must-visit company.  Even if you don’t you can be assured that this is a Christian company and they are going to make your gifts memorable.  I also think they are of good quality.  The bookmarks aren’t fragile and don’t seem to bend or rip easily.  Yes, I did try to rip them because that happens a lot in my house on accident.

Ordering was easy which is huge for me.  I hate having to figure out a website and getting lost.  The instructions we received were clear and concise and it has been a pleasure to work with this company!  I will definitely be a repeat customer.
