About the Series

Patriot at the River is the second book of the For Liberty and Conscience trilogy, which combines early
American history with Christ-centered fiction. Though Patriot at the River can be read as a standalone, readers

About the Author of Patriot at the River

Jayna Baas (pronounced as in “baa, baa, black sheep”) is the author of Preacher on the Run and director of The
Christian PEN: Proofreaders and Editors Network. She writes and edits from beautiful northern Michigan,
where she strives to give readers faith-filled adventures bursting with relatable characters and biblical truth.
When she’s not writing her own books or editing other people’s books, Jayna seeks out new adventures on

My Thoughts on Patriot at the River

Patriot at the River is book two in a fun historical fiction series that you don’t want to miss! Book One was Preacher on the Run.  I had the privilege of reading Preacher on the Run and it was such a fun historical fiction novel that I knew I needed to read this one too.  And it did not disappoint!

I loved the setting.  It takes you deep into the backcountry but also deep into the wilderness of the time.  You’re back in history to the Revolutionary War times.  One man decides to step in and save a civilian from a British soldier and his fate is forever changed.  That soldier will not forget this transgression and it can throw Benjamin and all those he loves into danger.

You’ve got history!  You’ve got suspense!  And you’ve got a wonderful story as well.  Throw in some romance too of course.  Plus a good solid Christian foundation.  It’s a wonderful book and I truly think you’re going to love seeing what happens to Benjamin after he’s injured.
