Brinkman Adventures on CD {TOS Crew Review}

I’m sure you’ve gotten the hint by now that we love being part of the TOS Crew.  We were able to review Brinkman Adventures on physical cd.  This time we received Brinkman Adventures: Season 3.  We previously reviewed Season 2 and so we knew we’d love this one!

Brinkman Adventures is an audio drama on CD or digital download.  They tell true missionary stories in a way that is compelling, interesting, and thought provoking for children.  Not all of the stories are always appropriate for the younger children, but none of them include foul language or graphic violence.  There can be some scary parts though.

Brinkman Adventures Season 3 Review
My two year old doesn’t always understand all that’s going.  My soon to be five year old(on Sunday!!) tends to get scared when things get intense even if it’s a good intense.  She is scared if the characters are scared and ecstatic when they are.  She tends to feel things and empatize well.  My older kids have no troubles with the series and really enjoy listening to them.

The Brinkman Adventures is perfect for taking with you in the car (or van in our case) and listening to when you’re out and about.  Because we’re about an hour away from the closest major shopping stores, we get some good listening time in when we go to the store or the doctor’s office.  It’s a great alternative to music(though we love that too) and keeps the kids attention.  I’m asked less questions and there is less disagreements when we have the Brinkman Adventures going!

Brinkman Adventures Season 3 Review
My kids especially like that there are kid voices on these cd’s.  They love knowing that these are kids just like them.  They also really enjoy that they are a big family just like us!  We are blessed to know a few other families with as many(or almost as many) kids locally but it’s always fun to find another big family!  We may not know these kids but my kids feel like they know them!

This is a 4 cd set that contains 12 episodes and 5 hours of entertainment.  The twelve episodes are:

  1. God’s Mule
  2. Mountain Mover
  3. The Silent Ambassador
  4. Translating Trouble
  5. Man-Up
  6. Acorns and Oats
  7. A Saint’s Story, Pt 1
  8. A Saint’s Story, Pt 2
  9. Untouched
  10. Busy Bees and a Bullhorn
  11. Missionary Tourist, Pt 1
  12. Missionary Tourist, Pt 2

I want to encourage you to go to the website and read the stories behind the stories.  This is a great way to learn about what they’re discussing in the episodes and really put it into focus on the where and when scale.  You could even do a timeline of all of the adventures with where and when!  I think I just might have come up with a new assignment for my kids!  I’m sure they’re going to love it and me!!

Being that these are based on true modern day missionary stories, some of the names and locations have been changed.  We wouldn’t want to be telling all the secrets to places that are still actively pursuing Christians.  But we also do want to know and be able to pray for and rejoice with the missionaries who are doing this dangerous work.

I really just want to add that these adventures are wonderful.  We love them.  We highly recommend them and have even been known to loan out Season 2 that we reviewed last year to other families going on road trips.  If I were you and didn’t have the funds to purchase this right now I’d definitely start requesting it from your local libraries!  You can also listen to samples on the website to see if you’d enjoy it.  I’m of the thought pattern that you will of course!!
